A Few Remarks on Several Aspects of Aristotle's Conception of Science, with Special Regard to the Truth of So-Called Opinion

Příspěvek se věnuje některým aspektům Aristotelova pochopení vědy coby porozumění „pravdivému obrazu objektivních souvislostí/principů jevů a procesů“, což určuje témata jednotlivých poznámek/kapitol příspěvku. Co Aristotelés rozumí pravdou? Pravda je pro něj záležitostí vlastní poznávané reality, a zároveň výsledkem specifické myšlenkové aktivity spočívající v rozdělování a opětovném spojování obrazu/pohledu na poznávanou věc, jehož výsledkem je určení – definování věci. Toto je možné jedině tehdy, máme-li před sebou již věc hotovou/dokonalou, což Aristotela v konečném vede k hledání principů, jež hotovost věci umožňují a realisují ji. Věda se tedy v konečném vyjevuje jako poznání toho, co věcem a procesům vládne. Posledním tématem příspěvku je potom postavení názoru v Aristotelově pojetí poznávacího procesu a jeho vztah k pravdě.

The article deals with certain aspects of Aristotle's understanding of science as understanding the "true picture of objective relationships/principles of phenomena and processes," which determines the topics of the individual notes/chapters of the article. What does Aristotle understand by truth? For him, truth is a matter of the reality being cognized, and at the same time the result of a specific intellectual activity consisting in dividing and reconnecting the image/view of the thing being cognized, the result of which is the determination – the definition of the thing. This is only possible if we already have a finished/perfect thing in front of us, which ultimately leads Aristotle to search for the principles that enable and realize the completeness of the thing. Science thus ultimately reveals itself as knowledge of what governs things and processes. The final topic of the paper is the position of opinion in Aristotle's conception of the cognitive process and its relationship to truth.
